Dante Bonfim Costa ends career, joins Bayern München youth staff

Dante Bonfim Costa (42) ends his playing career after 42 years. The Brazilian defender signs with Bayern München as youth coach. His first day is 1 July 2025.

Bayern München announced the appointment on Thursday. Dante Bonfim Costa replaces outgoing youth staff. No further names were disclosed.

The defender played 240 matches for Bayern München between 2012 and 2016. He won five Bundesliga titles and one Champions League trophy during his spell.

At club level he also played for Standard Luik, Borussia Mönchengladbach and FC Schalke 04. Internationally he earned 10 caps for Brazil.

Dante Bonfim Costa’s coaching career begins immediately. Bayern München’s youth academy is one of Europe’s most renowned.
