Cambuur's loan spree: third Ajax talent joins promoted side
SC Cambuur have secured the loan of 20‑year‑old Ryan van de Pavert from Ajax, announced on Friday. The wing‑back/midfielder, who has a contract with Ajax until mid‑2029, will join the promoted Leeuwarden side to gain top‑flight experience.
Van de Pavert has been part of Ajax’s youth system since 2017. He featured for Jong Ajax in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie last season. Cambuur describe his development as ‘stormachtige’ and welcome his arrival to add depth to the squad.
Although most of his minutes came in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie for Jong Ajax, he became a regular in the first‑team match‑day squad in the final games of the season. He had also been training with the senior squad for an extended period, according to the club’s website. The loan gives him the chance to gain playing time at the highest level in Leeuwarden.
Technical manager Lars Lambooij praised the player, stating: “A versatile player who fits well with our style of play.” He added: “Ryan is a player who, with his game intelligence, stamina and especially his comfort on the ball, can add something immediately to our team and we are very happy with that.” Lambooij said the club is delighted to have Van de Pavert on board.
Van de Pavert is the third Ajax player to move to Cambuur this summer, following Lucas Jetten and Skye Vink. He becomes the fifth new signing overall after Ilyes Hamache and Morgan Costarelli joined earlier in the window. The club’s active recruitment aims to reinforce the squad for the upcoming season.
