A two‑year contract running to mid‑2028 sees 37‑year‑old Dusan Tadic return to the Eredivisie with NEC in Nijmegen, the club confirmed today. The former Ajax forward has signed a deal for two seasons, marking his comeback to Dutch top‑flight football.

Tadic arrived on a free transfer after his contract with Al‑Wahda in the United Arab Emirates expired. Although lucrative offers from the Middle East were on the table, the ambitions outlined by NEC persuaded him to return to the Netherlands.

Dick Schreuder championed the signing, highlighting Tadic’s 111 caps for Serbia. The coach believes the veteran’s international experience and leadership make him an ideal reinforcement as NEC prepares for the Champions League qualifying rounds.

During his earlier spell at Ajax, Tadic became a fan favourite with his left‑footed play, helping the club win multiple league titles and cups. He also featured prominently in Ajax’s memorable 2018/19 Champions League run that reached the semi‑finals.

Before his time at Ajax, Tadic had already featured for FC Groningen and FC Twente, adding further Eredivisie experience to his résumé.
