Turkish giants Galatasaray chase Bruno Fernandes with €50m offer

Under the glow of Istanbul’s Bosphorus lights, Galatasaray’s scouting team eyes a marquee signing, preparing a €50 million bid and a hefty wage rise to lure Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes to the Turkish giants. The move could mark a turning point in the club’s European ambitions.

The British newspaper The Telegraph reported the Turkish top club’s intention, stating the €50 million offer is coupled with a significant salary increase to convince both United and the Portuguese midfielder. Galatasaray has been linked this summer with several high‑profile names, signalling an aggressive recruitment drive.

Other summer targets linked with Galatasaray

Names such as Malick Fofana and Rafael Leão have surfaced in transfer chatter, positioning them alongside Fernandes as the next big acquisitions for the Istanbul side. Both players are considered among Europe’s most promising forwards, adding depth to Galatasaray’s attacking options.

Contract, market value and past transfer

Fernandes, 31, is currently under contract with Manchester United until 2027, with the English club retaining an option to extend the deal by one year. Despite his age, his estimated market value stands at €35 million, reflecting his continued influence on the pitch. His arrival in 2020 for €65 million has been hailed as a masterstroke, as he has been instrumental for the Red Devils over the last two campaigns.

The BBC notes that United have firmly rejected Galatasaray’s proposal, describing the Turkish side’s pursuit as a waste of time. Manchester United’s stance underscores their confidence in retaining the midfielder despite external interest.

Last season, Fernandes was named Premier League Player of the Year after scoring eight goals and providing 21 assists, surpassing the combined record of Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne. His creative output has cemented his reputation as one of the league’s most productive midfielders.

If the deal materialises, Galatasaray would secure a world‑class playmaker, potentially reshaping the balance of power in the Turkish league and signalling their intent to compete on the European stage. Conversely, United would lose a key architect of their recent successes, prompting a reassessment of their midfield strategy.
