Stoke City’s defensive boost hinges on Dundee’s departing centre‑half
Stoke City have completed the signing of 22‑year‑old defender Luke Graham from Dundee for an undisclosed club‑record fee, ending his four‑year spell at the Scottish club. Graham, a centre‑half who made 40 appearances and scored three goals last season, joins the English side as they look to reinforce their back line.
Graham joined Dundee’s academy at age 15 and progressed through loan spells at Lochee United, Albion Rovers, Montrose and Falkirk before making his first‑team debut in July 2024. The loan experiences gave him regular senior football across the Scottish lower leagues.
He has been capped at Under‑21 level for Scotland and was named in the pre‑World Cup training squad. Graham was an unused substitute in Scotland’s friendly win over Curacao at Hampden in May.
"I think it's the right time for me to move on and test myself in a different environment," Graham said. He added that he was sad to leave but eager to see what lies ahead.
"Dundee has been massive for me. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Dundee taking a chance on me as a young kid coming through the academy," Graham said. He thanked supporters, teammates and staff, saying he will remain a lifelong supporter of the club.
Graham will now report to Stoke City to begin training with his new teammates. The defender aims to compete for a starting berth as the English club prepares for the upcoming season.
