PSG eyes XXL defensive target as Campos eyes Javi Rodríguez

Paris Saint‑Germain have signalled interest in 23‑year‑old Spanish centre‑back Javi Rodríguez of Celta Vigo, according to reports. The move follows Guéla Doué (Dou)’s arrival and reflects sporting director Luis Campos’ XXL‑scale scouting push, a strategy already familiar to French clubs LOSC and OL.

Selon the Spanish daily Faro de Vigo, PSG have requested information from Celta Vigo about Rodríguez. The enquiry confirms the Paris club’s interest in the defender.

Rodríguez, 23, has become a regular starter for the Galician side. He plays as a right‑footed centre‑back and is one of Celta’s most watched players. His contract runs until June 2028 and contains a €40 million release clause.

Contract details and French familiarity

The sizeable clause explains why PSG are unlikely to activate it before the window closes. If the club had intended to sign him immediately, it could have triggered the clause already.

Rodríguez faced LOSC in the Europa League last season and later met OL in the round of 16. Against Lyon he supplied a decisive assist in the second leg, boosting his market reputation.
