Lille’s patient stance tests Liverpool’s pursuit of Bouaddi
Lille have signalled they will not rush to sell 18‑year‑old Moroccan midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi despite interest from Liverpool, with the French side holding the player on a contract that runs until 2029. The club says a patient approach will protect its valuation as the youngster’s profile rises.
Lille are under no immediate pressure to sell Bouaddi, according to the report. The club secured the midfielder on a contract until 2029 last December, giving them full control in any negotiations.
Bouaddi, 18, became one of Europe’s most discussed young players after impressive performances for Morocco at the World Cup. His World Cup exposure has strengthened his profile, attracting serious admiration from Liverpool.
For new Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola, adding midfield depth and planning for the long term are priorities this summer. Bouaddi matches Liverpool’s modern target profile: young, technically secure, tactically intelligent and likely to increase in value.
Lille’s stance is also linked to Champions League football returning to the Stade Pierre‑Mauroy for the 2026/27 campaign. The French club believes another season on Europe’s biggest stage could significantly raise Bouaddi’s market value.
Liverpool face a timing challenge: moving now may involve a high fee, while waiting a year could see Lille demand even more if Bouaddi impresses in the Champions League. Should Curtis Jones or another senior midfielder depart, the urgency for a signing would rise, making Bouaddi both an immediate squad addition and a long‑term investment.
