Juventus’ double push on Spurs targets tests De Zerbi’s price tags
Juventus director Giovanni Carnevali has opened direct talks with Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi about goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and striker Richarlison, while Spurs have set a €25 million asking price for the Brazilian and indicated his contract expires in less than a year.
Carnevali first contacted De Zerbi to assess Vicario’s availability, noting the Italy international is rapidly becoming Juventus’ top goalkeeping option. The interest intensified after Aston Villa announced they would not sell Dibu Martinez, leaving a clear opening in Juventus’ back line.
Richarlison, a 29‑year‑old Brazilian, has less than a year left on his Tottenham contract and appears unwilling to sign a new deal. He outscored Randal Kolo Muani at Spurs last season, netting 12 goals to the Frenchman’s five, making him a tempting ‘Plan B’ for Juventus.
Carnevali, who serves as CEO of US Sassuolo Calcio, hired De Zerbi at Sassuolo in 2018, and the pair worked together for three years at the Mapei Stadium. According to La dello Sport, Carnevali held a remote meeting with De Zerbi in the days before the direct discussions, underscoring a continued dialogue between the two executives.
Carnevali was photographed on the sidelines of the Serie A clash between US Sassuolo Calcio and US Lecce at Mapei Stadium Citta del Tricolore on May 17, 2026 in Italy. The image highlights his prominent role in Italian football beyond his Juventus duties.
The juxtaposition shows Juventus’ aggressive pursuit of two assets against Spurs’ firm valuation and contract stance. This contrast reveals a transfer window that could reshape both clubs’ squads.
If Juventus can meet Spurs’ €25 million demand and negotiate terms for Vicario, the Bianconeri could strengthen their defense and attack simultaneously. Conversely, a failure to bridge the gap would leave Spurs retaining their prized striker while maintaining control over their transfer assets.
