FAF confirms Vladimir Petkovic's exit, sparking new coaching hunt

In the dimly lit press room of the Algerian Football Federation, officials gathered as the announcement echoed, marking the end of an era for the national side. This time, it is official: after several days of rumours and speculation, La FAF announced on Monday evening the termination of its collaboration with Vladimir Petkovic.

The federation posted a communiqué on its social media channels confirming that the contract of the Swiss (Suisse) coach and his entire staff had been rescinded by mutual agreement.

"La Fédération algérienne de football informe de la fin de la relation contractuelle qui la liait au sélectionneur national, M. Vladimir Petkovic, et à son staff technique, officiellement ce jour, sur la base d'un accord à l'amiable entre les deux parties," the statement read.

The FAF also expressed warm thanks to the former coach of the Verts and his collaborators for their professionalism, commitment and dedication during the twenty‑nine months they led the national side, wishing them the best for the next stage of their careers.

Petkovic arrived in March 2024 to replace Djamel Belmadi and departs with a statistical record of 23 victories, 5 draws and 5 defeats across 33 matches.
