Emiliano Martínez signs for Chelsea as Emery warns Villa rivalry
Chelsea have signed goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez from Aston Villa, becoming the latest player to move between the two clubs after the £117 million purchase of Morgan Rogers this summer. The deal follows Nicolas Jackson’s arrival at Villa in a contract worth up to £65 million and Alejandro Garnacho’s loan with a conditional purchase clause.
Unai Emery insisted that Aston Villa and Chelsea are “enemies rather than friends”, adding the clubs aim to “kill” each other despite the regular business they conduct. His comments underline the competitive tension that accompanies each transfer.
Meanwhile, new signings Leon Goretzka and Ritsu Suzuki could make their debuts against Arsenal, highlighting how both sides continue to refresh their squads while the rivalry intensifies.
