Echteld signals AZ exit for Irish striker Troy Parrott
In the glow of the Johan Cruijff Schaal triumph, AZ Alkmaar coach Leeroy Echteld announced that Irish striker Troy Parrott is unlikely to feature for the club again this season. He added that the player himself has expressed a desire to depart, making an AZ exit almost certain before the campaign ends.
Echteld said the club will not be able to rely on Parrott for the remainder of the season. He added that the forward will not be retained by AZ.
The Ierse striker's future was addressed directly by the Alkmaarders' coach, who reiterated the expectation of Parrott’s departure. Echteld, speaking on behalf of the Alkmaarders, emphasized that the Irish forward will not feature again.
Vandaag the club confirmed that the Irish AZ-spits wishes to move on. The assistant coach relayed Parrott’s own desire to seek a transfer.
The remarks came after the team lifted the Johan Cruijff Schaal, a trophy that had just been secured in the post‑match press conference.
