Dundee target OGC Nice Victor Orakpo in weak bid as striker needed
OGC Nice centre‑forward Victor Orakpo (20) has become the focus of a Dundee approach, according to L’Équipe, as the Scottish club looks to fill the void left by departing forwards. Dundee’s interest arrives while Nice assess the striker’s role for the coming season.
Dundee's striking shortage
Dundee are pushing Terem Moffi towards an exit and are also keen to move Mohamed‑Ali Cho. At the same time, Elye Wahi has returned to Eintracht Frankfurt after his loan expired, leaving the Scottish side with a clear need for a new centre‑forward.
L’Équipe describes Dundee’s bid for Orakpo as “weak”, but suggests the offer could still be enough to persuade the striker to leave the Allianz Riviera.
Nice's uncertain forward plans
Victor Orakpo has struggled to secure regular first‑team appearances at Nice, even though injuries in his sector have theoretically opened opportunities. Last season he spent spells on loan at Montpellier HSC and AS Nancy in Ligue 2, but found it difficult to make an impact at both clubs.
He has featured prominently in pre‑season, largely because of the lack of competition up front, yet he may not lead the line for Nice this season.
Orakpo arrived at Nice from Bayern Munich’s academy after initially impressing with Le Gym’s academy. The Nigeria youth international’s development has been hampered by limited senior minutes.
If Dundee’s offer materialises, the striker could move to Scotland, but obstacles remain: his limited first‑team experience and Nice’s evolving forward options could affect the final decision.
