Derksen slams Seedorf as 'babbelziek' and questions KNVB appointment
In a heated moment on set, Johan Derksen unleashed a tirade at former Dutch midfielder Clarence Seedorf, branding him a ‘babbelziek’ and demanding why the KNVB had taken him on. Derksen recalled the old animosity within the Nederlands team and slammed the board’s latest appointment.
Volgens De Snor, the former player is a ‘babbelziek’ and Derksen cannot fathom why the KNVB brought him into the organisation. He asked the question Vandaag, Inside the KNVB meeting, demanding an explanation.
Derksen also dug up the past, recalling that other internationals in the Nederlands side once harboured a deep dislike for Seedorf. He claimed Seedorf would boast at every breakfast and lunch about his trophies, leaving teammates unable to tolerate him.
Seedorf’s KNVB board role
Seedorf was appointed in mid‑2023 as a member of the KNVB supervisory board, taking charge of the football‑technical portfolio. In that role he also participated in the search for a new national coach.
During his playing career, Seedorf earned 87 caps for the Nederlands national team and scored eleven goals. He featured at three European Championships and one World Cup.
Derksen concluded that Seedorf now talks a great deal, not necessarily nonsense about football, but enough to irritate him. The criticism reflects Derksen’s long‑standing frustration with the former midfielder’s outspoken nature.
