Arsenal ready to test Greek striker Tzolis in Premier League

Christos Tzolis, the Greek attacker acquired this summer from Club Brugge, says he is eager to make his official debut for Arsenal and feels prepared for the Premier League after a mixed spell at Norwich City and a loan at FC Twente. The transfer marks a return to England's top flight for the 25‑year‑old forward.

Tzolis first broke through at PAOK Saloniki, where his performances attracted Norwich City in 2021. The club paid a record €11.5 million for the striker, but his time in England proved difficult and he was subsequently loaned to FC Twente.

At Twente, the Dutch side gave Tzolis fifteen official appearances, during which he found the net three times. The limited impact prompted another loan, this time to Fortuna Düsseldorf in Germany's 2. Bundesliga.

During his spell in Düsseldorf, Tzolis regained confidence and earned a permanent move to Club Brugge. In his most recent season with the Belgian club he recorded seventeen goals and twenty‑three assists, showcasing his creative and scoring abilities.

Arsenal observed his resurgence and secured his services, bringing the Greek back to the Premier League. The English champions view him as a player capable of adding depth and attacking options.

"Although I did not play at the highest level at Düsseldorf, it felt very good to score again and create chances," Tzolis told . "Then you go a step higher and I have had two great seasons at Club Brugge. That came purely because of my choice to go to Düsseldorf and gain confidence there."

In London fitness tests he impressed staff, earning the nickname "Leonidas" after the Spartan king from the film 300. "I am ready to play in the Premier League. After Norwich I have made the right choices, developed and become better. I am not the same player as then. I feel it in my body and mentally. Now I must show I am good enough for the Premier League," he added.
