Anderlecht's De Cat dilemma: Bundesliga suitors vs a stubborn price

Seventeen‑year‑old midfielder Nathan De Cat has signalled his desire to play abroad next season, effectively ruling out Paris FC and opening the door to the German Bundesliga. His decision puts RSC Anderlecht under pressure to either accept a lower fee or risk losing the Belgian prospect.

De Cat, whose contract expires in a year, has refused to extend it, prompting Anderlecht to seek an immediate sale. The 17‑year‑old midfielder played 46 matches last season, scoring three goals and providing five assists.

Hoffenheim has entered intensive talks with De Cat’s entourage, and the player has given a green light for a move to Germany. Paris FC and several English clubs are also monitoring the situation, but Hoffenheim remains the furthest ahead.

Bayern München, linked to Vincent Kompany, has also shown interest in the youngster, highlighting his growing reputation across Europe. Despite this, Hoffenheim is reluctant to meet Anderlecht’s asking price of thirty million euros.

No club has submitted an official bid to RSCA yet, leaving Anderlecht in a tight spot as time runs out. Rudi Garcia did not select De Cat for the Belgian national team, the Rode Duivels, for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Supporters argue that Axel Witsel has unjustly taken De Cat’s place in the national setup. Transfermarkt values the midfielder at 27 million euros, creating a gap with Hoffenheim’s highest offer of around 20 million euros and signalling hard negotiations ahead.
