€30m price tag fuels AC Milan's chase for Lazio defender Mario Gila

🇮🇹

AC Milan, a Serie A side, have set a €30 million price tag for Lazio defender Mario Gila, with a €25 million fixed salary and €5 million in bonuses, after agreeing a five‑year €5 million net contract on Thursday, July 2. The agreement positions the 2000‑born Spaniard as a key target before the summer window closes.

The deal brings the 2000‑born Spaniard closer to the Rossoneri as they prepare for the upcoming transfer window.

Gianluca Di Marzio reported that Milan reached an agreement with Gila and his agent on the personal terms. The five‑year contract is valued at €5 million net.

Atalanta previously had a move rejected despite having agreed terms with Lazio. Napoli also showed interest but required outgoing transfers to finalize their offer.

Milan expect to seal the transfer with Lazio between Monday and Tuesday. The club is aware of the €30 million request, split between the €25 million salary and €5 million bonuses.

Napoli’s proposal featured slightly lower salary terms. Consequently, the Rossoneri have overtaken Napoli in the race for the defender.

Gila’s current contract with Lazio expires in 2027, leaving the club with limited leverage. This situation forces Lazio to consider a sale.

Kaustubh Pandey noted that Gila has been very consistent for Lazio. His ability to also operate in midfield adds significant value to any squad.

The deal represents a cut‑price acquisition for Milan amid growing competition for the 2000‑born Spanish defender. It underscores the broader market trend of clubs targeting versatile players with long‑term contracts.
