Jose Mourinho targets Nico Paz as Real Madrid priority

🇮🇹 8 June 2026
Jose Mourinho is set to be announced as Real Madrid’s new manager following the re‑election of Florentino Perez as the club’s President. Mourinho has already made his first transfer request for the upcoming summer window. He has identified Nico Paz as a priority target. Mourinho reportedly spoke with the 21‑year‑old midfielder about his role. He views Paz as a good fit for his preferred 4‑2‑3‑1 formation. Real Madrid remain open to re‑signing Paz but intend to sell an attacking player first. Paz was sold to Como in the summer of 2024 with a €9 million buy‑back clause that Real Madrid can activate this summer. The Argentine, a Real Madrid academy graduate, recorded 12 goals, seven assists and 13 big chances in Serie A last season. His 12 goals helped Como qualify for the UEFA Champions League. He averaged 2.0 dribbles per game, second only to Juventus’ Kenan Yildiz in the competition. Paz also offers versatility, able to play as a right‑winger or striker, and has been named in Argentina’s World Cup squad. Real Madrid’s willingness to re‑sign Paz is linked to the potential departure of Brahim Diaz, who has expressed a desire to stay. The club has already agreed deals for Denzel Dumfries and Ibrahima Konate, which could make Paz the third signing of the summer.
