Zweitteuerster Spieler in Arsenal‑Geschichte: Guimaraes arrives for €87.5m
Der FC Arsenal has completed the signing of Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United for a Betrag of around 87,5 Millionen Euro. The Mittelfeldspieler arrives as the Zweitteuerster Spieler in the Klubgeschichte of Arsenal and ranks as the fifth‑most expensive Premier‑League‑Transfer of the Sommer. Mikel Arteta hailed the move as his Königstransfer, fulfilling a long‑standing Wunschspieler wish.
Andrea Berta, Arsenal’s sport director, said: “Mit Brunos Verpflichtung stärken wir das Herzstück unseres Teams weiter. He can play as a defensive Mittelfeldspieler or as a box‑to‑box player, combining quality with quantity and delivering goals and Vorlagen each season.”
Guimaraes, 28, logged 195 Einsätze for Newcastle United, contributing 31 Tore and assists. Under Eddie Howe he became a constant, helping the Magpies win the EFL Cup 2025. His Ablöse of roughly €87,5 Millionen makes him the second‑most expensive Arsenal player after Declan Rice’s €117 Million deal.
The Brazilian midfielder also featured for Brazil at the World Cup, where his campaign ended in the Achtelfinale against Norway. His experience adds depth to the Gunners’ midfield as he now dons the Trikot of the Gunners.
Arsenal have secured Guimaraes on a contract that runs until 2031, tying the 28‑year‑old to the club for the long term. The deal reinforces the Mannschaft’s midfield services and provides Arteta with a key piece for upcoming campaigns.
Newcastle must now cope with another key departure. Earlier this Sommer Anthony Gordon left for FC Barcelona for €80 Million and Sandro Tonali moved to Tottenham Hotspur for €108 Million. Pierre‑Emile Hojbjerg, currently at Olympique Marseille, is being linked as a potential replacement for Guimaraes’ void.
With the addition of Guimaraes, Arsenal’s midfield depth improves significantly, giving Arteta more options in both defensive and box‑to‑box roles as the season progresses.
