RC Lens secured the Trophée des champions by defeating Paris Saint-Germain 1‑0 on Sunday evening, with Florian Thauvin’s decisive strike delivering the win in front of the Bollaert… crowd, while former Real Madrid star Zinedine Zidane watched from the stands.

The French side, known as Les Sang et Or, created the upset, earning the trophy after a solitary goal that sealed the 1‑0 victory at the Stade Bollaert… on their home turf.

Zidane’s presence electrifies the crowd

Zinedine Zidane attended the match in the tribunes alongside his trusted deputy David Bettoni, the newly appointed manager of the France national team, and his appearance did not go unnoticed by fans and players alike.

Thauvin credits the legend for extra energy

Florian Thauvin said he felt a surge of motivation after spotting Zidane, stating, “C’est une vraie fierté, c’est une légende française. Je ne savais pas qu’il allait être là, puis je l’ai aperçu en tribune. Ça m’a fait chaud au cœur. Ça m’a donné de l’énergie.”
