Zidane surprises with PSV defender Boscagli in France's first squad
Zinedine Zidane has invited Olivier Boscagli, the 28‑year‑old centre‑back who played 200 duels for PSV between 2019 and 2025, to the first squad of the French national team, reports L’Équipe. The official squad will be announced later.
Boscagli went through all of France’s youth teams but never debuted for the A‑squad. His club career spans six seasons at PSV, in which he made a total of 204 appearances for the Eindhoven club.
In the summer of 2025 he moved to Brighton & Hove Albion. After a first season with limited playing time – 17 matches across all competitions – he is now an undisputed starter at the English club.
Because of his strong performances in the south of England, Zidane selected him for the upcoming Nations League‑matches against Turkey, Belgium and Italy at the end of the month, which also marks Zidane’s debut as national team coach.
In the second source the name Zinédine Zidan e. is mentioned, a typographic variant of the coach’s name. The word Le appears in the text before the name Da, which also appears in the list of pre‑called‑up players.
