Zidane promises to keep the group moving after the win in Turkey

During the Belgium‑France press conference on Monday, manager Zinédine Zidane said his idea was to “see everyone” after leading France to a 1‑0 victory over Turkey on Friday in the Nations League. Appointed on July 28, he is already preparing changes for the match against Belgium scheduled for this Monday.

Against Turkey, Zidane deployed a 4‑3‑3, with Adrien Truffert and Rayan Cherki in the starting lineup, Kylian Mbappé shifted to the left wing and Ousmane Dembélé positioned as a striker. These bold choices marked his first step at the helm of the French national team.

Planned changes against Belgium

“Yes, there will be changes. There are eight or nine players who can come on at any moment,” Zidane affirmed on Téléfoot on Sunday. He wants to be able to use them over the next four matches and mentions the possible inclusion of Esteban Lepaul, Lucas Da Cunha or Jérémy Jacquet in the starting eleven in Brussels.

The Belgian manager, Mark van Bommel, made his debut with the Red Devils by securing a 2‑0 win in Italy, in Rome. The goals were scored by Dodi Lukebakio and the neo‑Parisian Mika Godts.

A physical clash expected

Zidane highlighted that Belgium is “a very athletic, physically strong team that plays second balls and crosses a lot.” He noted that it will be completely different from the match against Turkey and that he will adapt his setup to the Belgian characteristics.

Both teams will meet on Monday evening at 20 h 45 in Brussels, each looking to take control of Group A of the Nations League. The squads will be tested, no door will be closed according to the French manager.

In summary, the native of Marseille wants to exploit the depth of his squad, while the Dutchman van Bommel intends to rely on the momentum of his new players to face the Blues.
