Zidane impressed by Bayern star Michael Olise's natural talent
Natural talent Bayern star Michael Olise caused enthusiastic reactions after his winning goal against Belgium, when Zinedine Zidane, the new French national coach, publicly praised him. The young Frenchman, who has already earned 27 caps for France, was described by Zidane as an absolute natural talent.
Zidane praises Olise after decisive goal
"He is an absolute natural talent and simply loves playing football. You can see that," said Zinedine Zidane about the Bayern Munich star. Shortly after his substitution in Brussels, Olise scored the decisive goal, prompting Zidane to run emotionally along the touchline and kick the ball placed there to the side.
"We were really good in every area. Against a very strong Belgian side that made life difficult for us, we held our ground, played very well and showed courage," Zidane commented afterwards. After away wins in Belgium and Turkey (both 1:0), France tops Nations League Group A1, with the coach emphasizing that a break is now needed.
Olise boosts statistics and sparks Ballon d’Or debate
In the ninth league match of the season, Olise scored his ninth goal and set up five more. With a total of 661 minutes played so far, that averages roughly 47 minutes per goal involvement.
After an impressive 7‑0 showcase by FC Bayern Munich against Union Berlin, in which Olise netted three goals, FC sporting director Max Eberl expressed great admiration: "He definitely also belongs to the circle of (possible) Ballon d’Or winners." Eberl also noted that Harry Kane is also on the shortlist, but Olise's style likewise places him in that circle.
