Zidane charms France with two dull wins in Nations League

Zinédine Zidane, the new manager of the French national team, has overseen two Nations League matches, two wins by the smallest margin, including a success against Belgium, achieving a 6/6 record and sparking the players' enthusiasm.

First steps in the Nations League

Both fixtures, both won, allowed France to start the Nations League with a perfect record. The first match pitted France against the Red Devils, where the team kept the smallest scoreline. The second clash against Belgium confirmed the solidity of the new group, with a 6/6 rating given by observers.

The renewed squad

Accompanied by a squad different from the one at the World Cup, Zidane has brought in newcomers who strengthen the French core. Manu Koné, midfielder of Roma, explained that the coach was “very sincere, very close to the players” and that he could speak privately or in front of the group. The player added that Zidane “gives us all confidence to play freely, we are all natural.”

Koné also highlighted Zidane’s technique, stating: “What shocked me the most is his technical palette in training, he hasn’t lost anything.” This observation shows that Zidane’s past as a midfielder still translates today into his teaching approach.

The new manager uses his playing experience to give precise advice. “He was a midfielder, I learn a lot, I listen to everything he tells me. I can only learn by his side, he advises me a lot on my positioning, on balance. He gives me responsibilities,” said the young Romain.

On the bench for much of the match against Belgium, Zidane expressed his pride: “He told us he was very proud of us. He told us we were very good players in his eyes.” This recognition boosted the group’s motivation, which quickly adapted to the coach’s demands.

Despite the limited time available to train, the Blues have implemented the principles wanted by Zidane, as Koné points out: “We didn’t have much time to work but we managed to put in everything he wants.” The result is a team that is confident, technical and ready to meet the next challenges of the Nations League.
