Yuste backs Lamine Yamal as Ballon d'Or candidate
At FC Barcelona's headquarters, sports vice‑president Rafa Yuste said on Wednesday that Lamine Yamal is the best in the world and the undisputed candidate for the next Ballon d'Or, whose ceremony will be held on October 26 in London.

After President Joan Laporta, sporting director Deco and coach Hansi Flick voiced their support for Yamal, Yuste joined the chorus and chose the blaugrana “10”. Before lunch with the president and the Racing executives, he explained his choice.
“For me, he is not only the most destabilising player in world football, but also creates spectacle for everyone,” Yuste said, highlighting the youngster’s ability to decide matches.
“I really like that he said it, that means he is committed to himself and to what he is giving to the world, which is a lot,” he added, underscoring the personality shaped by his age.
Yuste recalled that Yamal, at 19, has already won titles at a young age, which strengthens his Ballon d'Or candidacy. The forward has shown a decisive level in every appearance.
The backing from FC Barcelona's hierarchy reinforces Yamal’s worldwide candidacy and positions the club as an influential voice in the award discussion.
