Youssouf Fofana's loan to Sevilla covers only 8% of the salary
Milan completed at the last minute of the summer transfer window the loan of Youssouf Fofana to Sevilla, with the French midfielder headed to the Andalusian club until June 30, 2027, without a purchase option, according to recent confirmations from both clubs.
Loan details and cost breakdown
The transfer took place in the final hours of the summer window; the player arrived at Sevilla on loan until June 30, 2027 and no purchase clause is foreseen.
According to Canal Sur, the Spanish club will cover only 8% of Fofana's salary during the season spent in Spain.
In 2025/26, Fofana's gross salary amounted to roughly €5.55 million; the 8% corresponds to about €444 thousand, while Milan will continue to bear just over €5.1 million.
Under the amortisation of the player's registration, Milan will have to fully account for the roughly €6.5 million related to the purchase portion, regardless of the loan.
Overall, considering only amortisation and gross salary, the cost for Milan in the 2026/27 season will be about €11.6 million, with a net benefit of less than €450 thousand.
Initially, Fofana was headed for Lyon with a buy‑back clause set at €12 million, but the deal fell through in the final hours of the window, forcing Milan to quickly find a new arrangement, resulting in a favourable deal for Sevilla.
