York City fill goalkeeping gap with Fulham’s Alfie McNally on loan
York City have secured Fulham goalkeeper Alfie McNally on a season‑long loan, addressing a clear need for a first‑choice keeper after their promotion to League Two. The 21‑year‑old signed a new contract with Fulham that runs to the end of the 2027‑28 season, signed in November.
The signing marks York’s ninth summer acquisition, a move that follows their recent promotion back to League Two and reflects the club’s strategy to reinforce the squad for the upcoming campaign.
McNally, 21, has yet to make a senior appearance for the Cottagers, but he has featured for Fulham’s under‑21 side in the EFL Trophy, gaining valuable match experience at a competitive level.
The loan agreement runs for the full season, giving York City a consistent presence between the posts while Fulham retain his long‑term contract through 2027‑28.
He could make his competitive debut for the Minstermen in the EFL Cup preliminary round against Crawley on Monday, 3 August, offering an early test of his abilities in senior football.
All the deals were completed in July 2026, finalising York’s transfer activity ahead of the new campaign.
