Yann M’Vila heads to Italy, signs with Sanremese in Serie D
Former French international midfielder Yann M’Vila, 36, has secured a new contract in Italy, joining Serie D side Sanremese after completing two full seasons with Caen, where he made 48 appearances across Ligue 2 and National.
M’Vila left Caen having featured in 48 matches split between Ligue 2 and the National division, confirming he is not ready to hang up his boots. The midfielder's stint at Caen spanned two seasons, demonstrating his durability at the professional level.
Sanremese signing and Karembeu ownership
He signed for Sanremese, a club based in Sanremo that competes in Serie D, and which is partially owned by former World Cup winner Christian Karembeu, who holds 37.5% of the shares. The club's unique ownership structure reflects Karembeu's ongoing involvement in Italian football.
At Sanremese, M’Vila will line up alongside the son of former Soviet international Youri Djoarkaeff, adding experience to the squad. The partnership is expected to bring a blend of veteran insight and youthful energy to the team's campaign.
