That was a nice, belated birthday gift for the Vorarlberg native Yanik Spalt. One day after his 19th birthday, the ÖFB youth team player was allowed to celebrate his debut in the German Bundesliga. Spalt, who can be used both as a defensive midfielder and as a full‑back, came in on the far left and was substituted in the 92nd minute for Angelo Stiller.
From his home club Nüziders, Spalt moved in 2020 to the AKA Vorarlberg. For the 2023/24 season he transferred to the youth setup of VfB Stuttgart. In February 2025 he extended a long‑term contract with the Swabians, and coach Sebastian Hoeneß is said by German media to hold the ÖFB talent in high regard.
