Women's football mourns after Bundesliga player Bettina Pfleger dies

The Austrian women’s football scene is shaken by deep mourning after former Bundesliga player Bettina Pfleger unexpectedly died on September 2 at the age of only 30. Career at SKV Altenmarkt

Pfleger played more than ten years for SKV Altenmarkt and completed over 170 matches in the two top divisions as well as in the cup.

“With great dismay we learned of the far‑too early death of Bettina Pfleger,” the Austrian Women‑Bundesliga shared on Instagram.

Memories of the ÖFB

The ÖFB recalled Pfleger’s long‑standing membership in the football family and the lasting impression she left at the age of 30. She was only 30 years old.

Pfleger was on the pitch for Altenmarkt in 2019, from 2021 she played for Bad Vöslau and ended her sporting career in 2022 for health reasons. The former Bundesliga player leaves a void.
