Woltemade's promotion: Bayern rumors stay cold despite €75‑million deal
In the Image Photo Agency/GettyImages picture, the 1.98‑metre striker Nick Woltemade is in focus – a name that again dominates the conversation on the international transfer market. The giant, loaned in the summer from Newcastle United to Juventus Turin, is in the first selection of the new DFB national team coach Jürgen Klopp for the Nations League.
Contract history and current situation
In the summer of 2025, there was a verbal agreement to bring Woltemade to Bayern Munich, but the high transfer fee demands of VfB Stuttgart caused the deal to fall through. Instead, he moved for around 75 million euros to Newcastle United, where he saw little playing time under former coach Eddie Howe and the new manager Matthias Jaissle.
Subsequently, he was loaned to Juventus Turin and recently celebrated his first premier goal in the Europa League for the Old Lady. Despite this performance, his playing time in Turin remains uncertain, and he must first find consistency to remain attractive in the long term.
Rumour mill and Bayern position
Foreign media speculate whether a strong performance under Klopp could open the way to Bayern Munich. ‑Boss Christian Falk, however, stresses that the speculation is “completely cold” and that there are currently no considerations to bring in the 24‑year‑old forward.
Falk adds that Bayern fundamentally keeps German national players in view. Should Woltemade sustainably impress in Jürgen Klopp’s squad, Bayern remains a medium‑term option, but a transfer remains, for the time being, future music.
The name Woltemade therefore continues to generate talk on the transfer market, but the current situation shows that Bayern Munich presently has no concrete interest, despite the ongoing media rumours.
