Wolfsburg's Amoura sidelined and set for exit after injury
Wolfsburg striker Mohamed Amoura remains sidelined with a thigh injury sustained while representing Algeria at the World Cup (Coupe du monde), and the club has announced he will not be part of the squad for the upcoming season as negotiations intensify over his future.
The injury keeps Amoura out of action, and he missed Wolfsburg's 1-0 victory over Hanovre. His absence was felt as the team secured the narrow win.
Following the club's relegation to Bundesliga 2, several senior players are being pushed toward exit, and Amoura is listed among those targeted for departure. The Loups are reshaping their roster for the new campaign.
« Selon les informations dont je dispose actuellement, Amoura ne sera pas joueur de notre équipe lors de la nouvelle saison », declared Dieter Hecking. The statement leaves little doubt about the striker's status.
The Algerian international is under contract until June 2029, yet Stuttgart and Benfica have been linked with a move. The market could therefore heat up quickly around him.
