Willy van de Kerkhof slams collapsed Obispo move to RC Lens
PSV Ik, former Oranje-international Willy van de Kerkhof, said the aborted transfer of Armando Obispo to RC Lens was baffling, noting the PSV‑defender had already departed for Frankrijk. He voiced his frustration on the Willy and René PSV‑podcast of Omroep Brabant.
He repeated the bewildered question, “That can’t actually be? If you leave, then you leave?” He added that a player should have everything settled before departing.
“You must have everything arranged beforehand, so don’t throw a party thinking it will work out,” he warned. He stressed that premature celebrations are misplaced.
“First make sure everything is properly arranged. I can’t understand waiting until everything is final,” he said. He called the incident a warning for all players to secure all details before saying goodbye.
PSV and Lens were reportedly in agreement on a €5.5 million transfer sum for the 27‑year‑old Obispo.
The PSV‑defender himself reacted last week to the collapsed move.
Willy, one half of the famous PSV‑tweeling, delivered his comments on the Willy and René PSV‑podcast.
