Why Europe’s elite clubs are circling Italy’s pricey midfielders

🇮🇹

Juventus have set a €40 million minimum price for French midfielder Khéphren Thuram, with Liverpool, Paris Saint‑Germain and Galatasaray all reported to be monitoring the player. Meanwhile, AC Milan are holding talks with the agents of Swiss midfielder Ardon Jashari after his €36 million arrival from Club Brugge failed to meet expectations.

Thuram’s recent performances have drawn the attention of several of Europe’s biggest clubs, prompting Juventus to protect their asset with a high threshold. The Bianconeri’s stance, reported by Tuttosport, indicates that only an offer meeting or exceeding €40 million would trigger negotiations.

Milan’s technical staff met Jashari’s representatives at the club’s headquarters to evaluate the 2002‑born midfielder’s role in the Rossoneri’s project for the coming season. Having arrived last summer for a fee close to €36 million, Jashari’s season was hampered by a long‑term injury and a performance below expectations, Milan’s midfield depth, a decision that could shape their transfer strategy ahead of next year.

Inter’s centre‑back Alessandro Bastoni, valued at around €60 million, is linked to Real Madrid after José Mourinho identified him as an ideal reinforcement, as reported by Libero. The ongoing investigation into alleged underage prostitution, which Bastoni is fighting to clear, may pressure Inter to lower the asking price if a Spanish offer materialises.

Napoli have placed a €25 million valuation on Dutch defender Sam Beukema, while Saudi champions Al‑Hilal have already made an initial approach for the player. Al‑Hilal’s interest intensified after Francesco Acerbi rejected their proposal, and the Saudi side is prepared to offer a salary between €5 million and €6 million per season, €40 million bid, Thuram could move to a league‑top club, while Juventus would secure a substantial return on their investment. A successful transfer for Jashari would give Milan a chance to recoup part of their €36 million outlay and potentially free up squad space. Should Inter accept a reduced fee for Bastoni, the defender could join Real Madrid and Inter would alleviate the legal distraction surrounding the player. A Beukema deal would provide Al‑Hilal with a proven Serie A defender and allow Napoli to reinvest the €25 million while trimming their wage bill.
