While Juventus watches, Brozovic chooses Al‑Sadd in Qatar
While Juventus, Lazio and Fiorentina are exploring the possibility of bringing back to Italy the Croatian midfielder, Marcelo Brozovic has already signed for Al‑Sadd in Qatar, where he will join the Italian defender Alessio Romagnoli, after leaving Al‑Nassr, champions of Saudi Arabia, at the end of June.
Neither Juventus, nor Lazio, nor Fiorentina have confirmed an agreement with Brozovic. The negotiations have remained at the level of speculation, without any formal commitment. The Croatian midfielder remains a free agent on the market.
The new chapter in Qatar
The Italian defender Alessio Romagnoli recently arrived at Al‑Sadd, coming from the Inter of Claudio Lotito. The team is coached by Romanian manager Razvan Lucescu.
Brozovic, born in 1992, is about to sign with the same club, joining forces with Romagnoli under the direction of Lucescu. The transfer marks his move from European football to that of the Middle East.
The player is free from his contract with Al‑Nassr, which expired on June 30, without any transfer fee. Al‑Itithad, a Saudi club, and Turkish side Trabzonspor were also interested. However, the proposal of the Doha club proved more attractive.
During his career Brozovic has worn the shirts of Hrvatski Dragovoljac, Lokomotiva Zagreb, Dinamo Zagreb, Inter and Al‑Nassr, as well as representing the Croatian national team. His experience in different leagues makes him a valuable asset for Al‑Sadd.
Future prospects
The contrast between the interest of Italian clubs and the decision to move to Qatar highlights the growing appeal of the Middle Eastern market for European players.
It remains to be seen how the arrival of Brozovic will influence the ambitions of Al‑Sadd and whether other Italian stars will follow the same path.
