Which Wiesn character matches each Bundesliga club this Saturday

The 191st Oktoberfest kicks off this Saturday on Munich’s Theresienwiese, and after Matchday 4 the Bundesliga heads into a three‑week international break. With plenty of time to wander the beer tents, 4AF asks which Wiesn reveller each Bundesliga club would be.

Bavarian giants and their rivals

FC Bayern may be a little arrogant at times and loves bragging over a beer about his many successes. The problem is he almost always backs up his words with actions. Borussia Dortmund dreams of one day keeping up with the industry leader; it never happens, but he stays in good spirits.

RB Leipzig wears a VIP wristband, joined late but now sits in areas nobody else can reach, secretly pouring Red Bull into his stein. VfB Stuttgart claims the Wasen is cooler, remains laid‑back and is liked by everyone.

Bayer Leverkusen is your best friend after a night out, offering the best headache tablets. TSG Hoffenheim would feel more comfortable back in his village, yet he brings a full checkbook that makes other visitors notice him.

Club characters beyond the top

SC Freiburg drinks a non‑alcoholic beer, looks after everyone and makes sure they get home safely. Eintracht Frankfurt is loud, well‑travelled and ready to turn an afternoon into a multi‑day adventure, sometimes going a little overboard.

FC Augsburg says little, acts as the wallflower, but has been invited back every year for sixteen years. FSV Mainz 05 is the comeback king, written off after a few hours but returns with an unmatched second wind.

1. FC Union Berlin refuses a seat after six steins, stubbornly staying standing. Borussia Mönchengladbach loudly announces at 2 p.m. that today is his day, but by 4 p.m. he has already said goodbye to his keys and phone.

Hamburger SV is a longtime regular who was thrown out of the beer tent in 2018 after several warnings; he has been allowed back for a year. 1. FC Köln knows every anthem and carnival song, keeping singing even when the band stopped ages ago. Werder Bremen’s best years are behind him and he’s short on cash, yet remains likable and part of the whole. FC Schalke 04 swings every ten minutes between “Best night of my life!” and “Why does this always happen to me?”, while SV 07 Elversberg wonders “Who even invited him?” before three hours later becoming the table’s celebrated head, and SC Paderborn gets forgotten during introductions but holds no grudges.
