When Paris's glamour contrasts with Mbappé's police interrogation
On September 30, Kylian Mbappé was spotted in the streets of Paris, injured but nevertheless out for the evening with his partner Ester Exposito, sparking the anger of the Spanish press. At the same time, that same evening, the 27‑year‑old player went to the headquarters of the General Inspection of the National Police (IGPN) to answer officials' questions, a judicial explanation relayed by L’Equipe.
Financial investigations
The investigation notably focuses on a donation of €60,300 paid in June 2023, taken from the World Cup bonuses in Qatar. A month later, Sanhadji accompanied Mbappé on a family trip to Cameroon, raising the question of a privately paid mission outside the official framework. Investigators are also interested in a €120,000 loan requested by the police officer under the pretext of false financial difficulties, as well as the clan covering personal expenses.
Other personalities heard
Mbappé is not the only one to have appeared: Franck Ribéry, comedian Jamel Debbouze, former president of the French Football Federation Noël Le Graët and his successor Philippe Diallo were also questioned. Last Friday, Fayza Lamari, the player’s mother, appeared before the three investigating judges in Paris, obtaining the status of assisted witness without being charged.
This decision indicates that evidence makes her involvement in the facts plausible, without however establishing serious and consistent proof. She is accused of having solicited Sanhadji to facilitate the obtaining of four visas for relatives. Fayza Lamari was assisted by lawyer Marie‑Alix Canu‑Bernard, who also represents her son.
The investigation also extends to the services provided by the former police commander, charged on September 16 with corruption, fraud and money laundering. Thus, the contrast between the media visibility of a Parisian evening and the rigor of a police interrogation reveals the complexity of the case, which continues to develop.
