Westminster court date set for England striker Ivan Toney after London incident

England World Cup striker Ivan Toney will appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday, 24 September 2026, after his assault case was adjourned. The 30‑year‑old, who was charged over a December 6 incident in a Soho nightclub in London, faces a hearing next week.

Charges and court date

The 30‑year‑old was charged with assault causing actual bodily harm on 31 July after an altercation in a Soho nightclub on 6 December. His case was adjourned and he is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday, 24 September 2026.

Toney currently plays for Saudi Pro League side Al‑Ahli, which he joined in August 2024 from Brentford for a £40 million fee. During his time with the Bees he recorded 72 goals in 141 appearances.

England World Cup involvement

Thomas Tuchel named Toney as a surprise inclusion in England's World Cup squad last summer. He came on as a late substitute in the semi‑final against Argentina and started the third‑place play‑off victory over France.

Toney missed the first half of the 2023‑24 season because of a gambling ban. He later featured in England's run to the Euro 2024 final.

A spokesperson for the striker said at the time of his charge: ‘Ivan acknowledges the charge and although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to being given the opportunity to clear his name in court.’ The statement was released shortly after the July 31 charge was filed.
