West Ham's six‑goal win spikes pressure on Wrexham's Hollywood boss

Phil Parkinson has been warned of mounting pressure after his Wrexham side were thumped 6‑0 by West Ham United at the London Stadium on Saturday, a defeat that marks the heaviest loss since the Hollywood takeover in 2021.

West Ham's record‑breaking display

Jarrod Bowen, Joel Piroe, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Taty Castellanos, Mohamadou Kante and Manor Solomon all found the net, giving the Hammers six different scorers – a first in the club's 131‑year history and a new record that eclipses the previous five‑goal‑scorer tally.

West Ham, often referred to simply as Ham, are favourites for promotion back to the Premier League, and head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has already lifted them to the Championship summit.

Pressure mounts on Parkinson

Parkinson, 58, is in his sixth season at the helm of Wrexham, having overseen the meteoric rise from the National League to a 16th‑place standing in the Championship.

commentator Joe Shennan called the performance "woeful", and Scott Minto added, "It’s very, very bad. Of course there’ll be pressure," noting the ambitious Hollywood owners and questioning recent signings and substitutions.

Parkinson reflected after full‑time, admitting the first 25 minutes were acceptable before conceding two goals, and acknowledging his decision to introduce two defenders and one attacker in the 67th minute when the score was 4‑0.

Wrexham have drawn four of their seven league matches this season, including a stalemate with Welsh rivals Swansea City last weekend, and now face Southampton ahead of the international break – a fixture Minto warned could extend a poor run if another heavy defeat occurs.
