West Ham chase Arsenal’s Jaden Dixon to fill Championship defence gap

West Ham have opened discussions with Arsenal to secure a loan for 19‑year‑old centre‑back Jaden Dixon, targeting the defensive void created by Axel Disasi’s move to Chelsea after the Hammers’ relegation to the Championship. The Sun, via Transfer Feed, reported the deal could give the teenager regular minutes in east London.

Relegated to the Championship, West Ham face a clear shortage in central defence. The departure of Axel Disasi to Chelsea and the under‑performance of Max Kilman have left a glaring gap. The Hammers therefore need a young, yet physically capable centre‑back.

According to the Sun, relayed via Transfer Feed, talks have already taken place between West Ham and Arsenal about a potential loan for Jaden Dixon. The clubs have opened discussions for a summer move that would see the defender join the Hammers in east London.

Arsenal’s stance is straightforward: they want Dixon, who joined from Stoke City in February 2026, to gain regular competitive minutes. The Gunners believe a loan will provide senior experience that Premier League 2 cannot offer.

West Ham, however, have made it clear they would require assurances that Dixon will feature regularly rather than sit on the bench. Nothing has been finalised yet, and the negotiations remain at an exploratory stage.

Dixon is 1.88 m tall, has England youth caps up to the under‑19 level and made six first‑team appearances for Stoke City before moving to Arsenal. In the 2025/26 Premier League 2 season he logged 901 minutes, scored one goal and earned a FotMob rating of 7.05.

The T4O view notes the risk of sending a teenager with limited senior experience into the physically demanding Championship, where 46 games and Tuesday night fixtures are the norm. While other options such as Harry Souttar, Dael Fry or Dylan Lawlor have been mentioned, West Ham remain linked with Dixon as a possible solution, pending further assurances.

Until such terms are agreed, the loan remains speculative and the Hammers must continue exploring alternative signings to shore up their back line.
