West Brom chase permanent return for Toby Collyer

Pre‑season role and recent appearance

Collyer has been part of Michael Carrick's squad during pre‑season. He featured in the second half of last week’s draw with Leeds United at Croke Park, as Mason Mount was unavailable because of injury. The match ended in a draw, giving the young midfielder further exposure.

Talks are said to be at an early stage, and it had been anticipated all summer that Collyer would eventually leave Old Trafford.

Loan spell, Hull stint and future prospects

Collyer joined West Brom on loan last summer and returned to United in January after making 12 appearances, including three starts. The 22‑year‑old then signed for Hull City after recovering from a calf injury.

At Hull he managed five appearances before further fitness issues limited his game time. Hull, newly promoted to the Premier League, were thought to be keen on bringing him back, but a deal has yet to materialise.
