Wales – Peter Perchtold's U21 side aims for revenge with Kevin Kada
In Caernarfon, Wales, the Austrian U21 men's football team under head coach Peter Perchtold will face the Welsh side on Tuesday at 18:30 – a match regarded as revenge for the bitter 0-2 defeat on 14 October 2025 in Linz.
Qualification Situation and Goal
After seven matches, Austria sits in third place with eleven points and an even goal difference of 8:8. The only promotion slot still within reach belongs to the second‑placed team Denmark, which has three more points and a better ratio of 15:6.
Perchtold described the Danish team as an “unpleasant opponent” and stressed that a win in Wales is necessary, while at the same time a clear loss for the Danes in Vejle against Belgium is expected.
Motivation and Statements from the Players
“Tomorrow we want to show once again how good we are, and from the start leave no doubt about who will win this match,” Perchtold explained before the game.
Goalkeeper Lukas Jungwirth recalled the strong performance against Denmark and promised to display the same energy again. Defender David Puczka added that the team wants to be rewarded with three points this time.
“We showed a really good performance against Denmark and brought a lot of energy onto the pitch. We want to repeat that,” Jungwirth said again, while keeping the failed first leg in mind.
The upcoming appearance will be broadcast live on ORF Sport, allowing fans to follow the duel at the Oval Stadium.
