Vinícius Jr faces suspension after hair‑pull on Villarreal

Vinícius Jr apologised to his Real Madrid teammates and supporters after being sent off in the 1‑0 LaLiga win over Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabeu, while the disciplinary committee now deliberates a sanction that could see him miss the upcoming El Clásico at the Camp Nou.

Vinícius entered the match seven minutes into the second half and was shown a red card twenty minutes later. The goal he thought had given Real a second lead was ruled out after a VAR review confirmed the hair‑pull on Nathan Saliba.

After the game the Brazilian posted on social media: “Perdão à minha equipe e à torcida”. The apology was directed to both the squad and the club’s fans.

Disciplinary framework

The Spanish Football Federation classifies pulling an opponent’s hair as violent conduct. Under Article 130 the offence carries a suspension of one to three matches.

The pending decision could prevent Vinícius from featuring in Real’s clash with Barcelona on 25 October at the Camp Nou. That fixture is the next high‑profile test after the Sevilla game.

Real’s next three LaLiga fixtures are against Sevilla, Barcelona and Racing Santander. Missing the El Clásico would be a severe blow for the 26‑year‑old Brazil international.

The contrast between his immediate remorse and the looming uncertainty highlights how a single moment can jeopardise a season‑defining encounter.
