Vincent Kompany reassures Bayern, no €125 million signing planned
While Bayern Munich says it is not preparing a purchase for Florian Wirtz, the English club Liverpool defends its investment in the young German international. The attacking midfielder left Bayer Leverkusen for the Reds in the summer of 2025, with a transfer announced at €125 million, while other sources cite an amount between €116 million and €116.5 million. Despite a mixed first season, the two clubs hold opposite positions.
Bayern remains without a purchase project
Bayern, often referred to as the Rekordmeister, is closely monitoring Wirtz's situation, but journalist Christian Falk notes that the Bavarian club is not currently working on a transfer. According to Falk, Bayern already has Jamal Musiala, deployed in the number ten role, and therefore does not see an immediate place for the German player.
In recent days, TEAMtalk confirmed that Bayern's interest never completely vanished, even after a difficult season in England. However, the club coached by Vincent Kompany does not plan any offensive move for the former Bayer Leverkusen player, according to Falk's statements.
Liverpool defends its investment
On Liverpool's side, the Reds remain attached to Wirtz despite his performances falling short of expectations. He has featured in 54 matches for the club, with only nine contributions in the Premier League out of 38 appearances, which has fueled criticism.
The price paid, whether €125 million or an amount between €116 million and €116.5 million, makes a quick sale unlikely, as Falk points out: “Don’t forget, either, that it was a lot of money Liverpool paid for Wirtz”. Liverpool therefore has no announced intention to offload him.
Future prospects for Wirtz
Vincent Kompany, Bayern's coach, indicated that he is satisfied with his current squad, where Michael Olise occupies the fulcrum role, similar to the one Wirtz holds in the France team. This setup reinforces the belief that Bayern will not seek to recruit the German midfielder in the immediate future.
Nevertheless, Falk reminds that if Wirtz wanted a return to the Bundesliga, Bayern would be the first club he would contact. The situation could evolve, but for now, no concrete offer is on the table.
In summary, Bayern maintains a position of no active interest while Liverpool protects its asset, leaving Florian Wirtz's future hanging between the two camps.
