Vincent Kompany puts everything on Bayern for the Ballon d'Or

The Ballon d'Or ceremony will take place on October 26 in London, where the successor to Ousmane Dembélé will be announced. Bayern’s coach, Vincent Kompany, said he hopes to see one of his players, notably Harry Kane or Michael Olise, win the trophy.

On October 26 in London, the name of the player who will succeed Ousmane Dembélé will be known, unless the Frenchman wins the award again. Among the favourites are Kylian Mbappé, Rodri, Lamine Yamal and Harry Kane. Michael Olise is also among the contenders.

Kompany’s predictions

Asked at a press conference, Vincent said: “I think the result is already decided, isn’t it? I can’t change anything now…”. He added that he is focusing on Bayern and hopes that a player from the club will win the Ballon d’Or.

“I want my players to succeed, so I will be 100 % partial and will say that as long as Harry Kane or Michael Olise win it, I will be happy,” Kompany said, emphasizing his attachment to the two forwards.

Team statistics

He recalled that his team scored 182 goals last season, an average of 3.5 goals per match, a figure he considers unprecedented in the five major leagues. According to him, these players also contributed defensively and in creating play.

“The only thing we can debate is whether the Ballon d’Or is determined by the Champions League. We did not win the Champions League, so we must give everything to the players who have won it,” he explained.

Kompany also mentioned Luis Diaz among the contenders, although the first two mentioned, Harry Kane and Michael Olise, remain his favourites. He concluded by reminding that the Red Devil closely follows the performances of his players.

The Ballon d’Or ceremony is fast approaching, and eyes are already turning to London on October 26, where the new laureate will be announced.
