Vincent Kompany defends his legacy as Manchester City faces 114 offences

Vincent Kompany answered the press this Wednesday, questioned about the Manchester City case that was found guilty of 114 financial offences, and said he is proud of the work done with the Sky Blues between 2008 and 2019 as captain.

The sports tribunal declared Manchester City guilty of 114 serious financial offences. The English club now faces severe sanctions, including the possible loss of titles won in recent years.

Vincent Kompany wore the colours of the Sky Blues from 2008 to 2019. He played no fewer than 360 matches and added four Premier League titles to his record. He remains an icon for the Red Devils.

Focus on Bayern

As the coach of Bayern Munich, he dodged the question by stating: “I am focusing solely on my work at Bayern Munich. We have important matches coming up.” He added that the time devoted to external matters was limited.

He also mentioned the derby against FC Augsburg scheduled for this Saturday, describing it as a very important match after Bayern’s only defeat in the Bundesliga last season. According to him, Augsburg has a compact organisation and dangerous individual qualities.

Manchester City in Full Preparation

Manchester City is preparing to face Liverpool on Sunday at 5:30 pm. Erling Haaland said that supporters will have a good time on Sunday against Liverpool and called for unity and positivity.

Potential Consequences for the Record

An independent commission found the club guilty of serious offences over nine seasons, from 2009 to 2018, and confirmed most of the non‑cooperation accusations. The Premier League could impose penalty points or strip titles, which would threaten the four championships of Kompany.

Michael Carrick, manager of Manchester United, indicated that the case affects him personally and wishes for a swift resolution. Mikel Arteta, manager of Arsenal and former assistant of Pep Guardiola at City, said he is waiting for the end of the legal process before speaking further.
