Vincent Kompany cautions Bayern over Union Berlin's unpredictable plan
Bayern Munich will host Union Berlin at 20:30 on Friday, the fourth matchday of the Bundesliga, as manager Vincent Kompany prepares his side despite a poor start. The Bavarian club have already lost twice and drawn once, leaving them eager for points.
Opponent’s changing tactics
Kompany told reporters on Thursday that Bayern constantly analyse the opponent’s approach. “We always discuss the opponent’s approach. Schalke and Bodø/Glimt came with a completely different plan to what they usually use,” he said, adding that Union Berlin are likely to arrive with a plan of their own.
He stressed the need for flexibility, noting “as a coach you must always be able to adapt to how the match unfolds.” The manager also highlighted Union’s recent transformation under a successful new coach, saying the confidence of the rival’s staff will influence their decisions.
Squad depth and training form
Kompany praised forward Luis Diaz for his prolific training record, stating, “He has scored an incredible number of goals in training. If he translates that into matches, everything will go well again.” The Belgian manager expects Diaz’s form to boost Bayern’s attacking options.
He confirmed the full squad is available, adding, “We have the whole group at our disposal. Congratulations to our medical and athletic departments. Sometimes choices have to be made, but I prefer that. We want everyone to stay fit and hope they all return healthy after the international break.”
With the tactical briefing complete and the squad ready, Kompany concluded that Bayern are prepared for any changes Union Berlin may implement, setting the stage for a tightly contested Friday encounter.
