Villa’s summer exodus meets Adarabioyo chase amid £51m Konsa sale

Aston Villa’s turbulent summer, marked by the departures of Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans and Lucas Digne, now contrasts with their pursuit of centre‑back Tosin Adarabioyo to fill the void left by Arsenal‑bound Ezri Konsa.

Summer exits and financial gain

Villa fans have watched key players leave, with the record sale of Morgan Rogers to Chelsea highlighted alongside the moves of Youri Tielemans and Lucas Digne. Emiliano Martinez and Ollie Watkins appear poised to follow, adding to the list of exits.

Ezri Konsa’s transfer to Arsenal fetched £51 million plus add‑ons, contributing to a profit of well over £200 million for Villa this summer after securing a European trophy and Champions League qualification.

There could yet be even more business between Chelsea and Villa, as rumours link Nicolas Jackson to the Midlands club after a twelve‑month chase, while Ian Maatsen, Jadon Sancho and Axel Disasi have already arrived under Unai Emery.

Incoming options and future plans

Aston Villa are moving for Tosin Adarabioyo from Chelsea, positioning him as the replacement for Konsa after confirming the loan signing of Alejandro Garnacho.

Benfica have also shown interest in Adarabioyo, with former Fulham manager Marco Silva reportedly keen to reunite with the former White centre‑back.

Adarabioyo, a former England youth international, began at Manchester City, moved to Chelsea on a free transfer in 2020, and made 41 appearances in all competitions in his first season before game‑time dwindled.

Transfermarkt values the defender at €16 million, and Villa’s strategy suggests further creative deals may follow to satisfy Premier League profit and sustainability rules.

Villa begin their season with a Premier League trip to Sussex on Sunday, facing Brighton & Hove Albion, while the club continues to shape a squad capable of defending their recent European success.
