Viking captain hails gritty comeback against Bayern in Champions League
Norwegian forward Zlatin Tripic, captain of Viking, reflected on his side’s performance after the Champions League league‑phase match against Bayern on the 13th. UEFA.com reported that Viking hosted the German champions and the game ended in a 3‑3 draw.
Janne Stensnes gave Viking an early lead in the second minute, followed by Peter Christiansen’s second‑half‑time goal. Bayern turned the tide, scoring three times, but Harald Haugen equalised in the 90th minute. Tripic told TV2, “I think we could have played another 90 minutes. I’m truly proud – I’ve waited 34 years for this moment.” He added that leading 2‑0 against world‑class opponents felt “incredibly satisfying”. According to Squawka, Viking became the fourth club, after PSG, Barcelona and Feyenoord, to score two or more goals in the first half of a Champions League tie against Bayern.
