Vicario's free loan to Juventus: a deal for immediate buyout
While few would have imagined that Guglielmo Vicario could arrive at Juventus so quickly, the black‑and‑white club has already arranged a free loan agreement until June 30, 2027, with a buyout clause set at eight million euros plus possible bonuses.
From Empoli to Tottenham, then to Turin
Vicario was considered one of the best goalkeepers in circulation while he played for Empoli. The last season spent at Tottenham Hotspur was not extraordinary, but the English initially valued him at fifteen million euros.
Transfer terms
Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announced the agreement with Tottenham Hotspur FC for the temporary acquisition, on a free basis, of Vicario’s sporting rights. The contract provides the option to purchase the player permanently by paying eight million euros, with the possibility of adding up to two million in bonuses upon achieving specific objectives.
The buyout value has been set at eight million, while the two million in bonuses represent the maximum additional amount foreseen during the loan period.
There is already talk of a possible buyout after just a few matches, indicating that the Juventus management does not intend to wait the two‑year period spent with the previous goalkeepers.
On April 30, Guglielmo Vicario turns thirty, a birthday that coincides with his first season in Italy.
