Veerman hails Guus Til as his best partner for the Netherlands

Midfielder Joey Veerman praised his former PSV teammate Guus Til after the match against Serbia, in which the two played together in the Dutch midfield. Veerman said he was “ready to jump” when Til was called up, and emphasized that Til is the best at that.

The two played side by side at PSV over the past years, where they formed a familiar partnership. In the match against Serbia (1‑2) they started together as central midfielders for the Netherlands, which highlighted their mutual chemistry.

“He’s a mate. I think you can also see that on the pitch. He has an excellent eye for goal and always makes deep runs. Guus is the best at that,” said Veerman.

Veerman moved to Borussia Dortmund this summer and is happy that he can again play with Dutch teammates these weeks. He describes the atmosphere as “super cosy” and enjoys speaking only Dutch for two weeks.

Besides football, the midfielder has started German lessons, which he wants to continue when he returns to Dortmund. At Dortmund he often sits at the table with the German players; they speak German, then translate into English, so he still has to learn, but he is convinced it will work.
